Ann Curry

Ann Curry was born in the US and works as a photographer and journalist. Since more than 45 years, she has concentrated her work on reporting human suffering, especially when natural catastrophes or war are occurring. Curry reported on conflicts within Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry, (born November 19 1956 Agana American journalist, television news reporter and anchor who was most well-known for her job as a correspondent for the Today show a morning news show that was telecast by the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry's work was noted because of her coverage of human crises occurring in war-torn nations and natural disasters. Curry's mother is Japanese as is her father, who was an American Navy Sailor. After World War II, her parents met while her father was serving in Japan. Because of her father's work in the military that they had to move around a lot. Curry completed her high school in Ashland Oregon. After graduating from University of Oregon, Curry obtained a bachelor's degree in journalism degree in 1978. Her exposure to different cultures as well as her experiences throughout her childhood may have influenced her empathy approach to communicating about international matters. Curry's family moved frequently which is why Curry did not stay in one school for more than two years. Curry attended various schools including San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia and Virginia. Ashland was her final high school. While working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregon she began her career in broadcasting. She became the first female journalist for the station at was 22. In Portland in Oregon, she was made an anchor and reporter by KGW which is NBC's subsidiary. After four years she moved into Los Angeles and became a journalist at KCBS TV. Through her KCBS-TV relationship of six years, she was awarded 2 Emmy Awards.
